GtoPdb user registration now required

Additionally registered users will need to request an API Key in order to access our REST API. The change to require an API Key will be implemented around 15th-17th September 2026, until then access to the REST API without the need to an API Key will remain in place.

Commercial organisations that use GtoPdb already pay access-fees which support the maintenance, curation and sustainability of the resource. Commercial users should read our sustainability statement for more information on commercial access fees.

I tried to register but was frustrated by the demand for a User Name after I had filled in the reg form which did NOT ask me for a User name. What IS a User name? And where do I define it?

Also it would be good to provide an email address when (during registration) it says “please contact us if you have trouble registering”

    • Hello, I’m sorry you have been frustrated by the registration process. The new system is only just being brought online. I can see you have tried to register, but will have be redirected to a page that required a login.
      This is an error.
The URL in the verification email was incorrect. I will send you a new verification email, which should hopefully work and not redirect you to the wrong page.
      Apologies for the inconvenience,
      Simon
